| On the eve of the Sino-Japanese war, Ma Yung-Cheng arrives in the city of Shanghai looking for work. After suffering scorn and abuse from his new peers, he searches for a way to raise his social position. When victory in a fight with a Russian wrestler gains him some respect, Ma sees an escape route from his misery. He takes on nail-biting challenge after challenge, becoming more and more respected amongst his community. His blaze of glory ends when his friend and mentor Tan Wei is murdered. Revenge is now Ma's only purpose, and he sets out on a violent, bloody battle to avenge Tan's death. |
