Synopsis: During in the 1860s, as the old Japanese feudal system falls under threat from a limited democracy, lives Ryunosuke Tatsue, a man for whom killing is a pleasure. Ryunosuke was brought up by a father for whom the sword was the way of life, and the sword is now the only family that Ryunosuke recognizes. This killer becomes pitted against Taranosuke Shimada, an opponent of equal prowess who regards the use of a sword as the outward manifestation of a man's spiritual state. For these two men, who balance their lives on the edge of the blade, one must surely fall.
